Construction Begins...

Over the last few days I have started work on my final toy. I have started by marking out the grid that I want my dowels to fit to. Each square needed to be 27mm x 27mm so that I could then find the centre point of each square for my holes to be drilled into and my dowels to be attached to.

Having marked and drilled my holes in 4 bases for my city toy, I added some dowels and tried my first block on the grid. It fit really well, but I now dreaded the thought of making a load of identical blocks.

Unfortunately I just had to start creating them. The process would have been a lot easier and a lot more efficient if I was able to use machines such as the pillar drill and belt sander.

I then started trying to make each of the blocks more aesthetically unique by adding features such as overhangs and indents.
